Oasis of the Reborn

I walk through the halls of my palace/mansion/building and find a path leading to one of the courtyards. Sliding open the glass door, I step outside into the sunlight and breathe deeply. I take a quick glance around at the vegetation and large area, mentally applauding my clones for locating the place. If one were to look down at this area from the sky, they would see just the palace because technically this place doesn't exist in this dimension. The oasis stretches further than I can see in any direction (except behind me of course). Doom and date palms reach towards the sky while smaller bushes hide in their shade. The grass is lush and green with small spots of brown and a few brightly-colored flowers can be seen here and there. Being safe within this desert haven, I take off my mask and sigh contentedly before walking through the foliage. My ears twitch every now and then at the sound of birds and other creatures before they pick up the sound of running water. Not long after, I find a river and follow it towards a lake filled with vibrant lotuses and stepping stones. The area around the lake is covered in sand and feels strange against my paws after walking through the grass. I deal with it though and hop across the stepping stones to what appears to be a temple in the center of the lake. Carvings of the sun and some type of bird adorn the structure causing me to smirk as I realize what this place is. I run my right hand along the smooth walls as I enter the main hall and gaze up at the obelisk before me.

"So this is where you've been. I was beginning to wonder if you'd gone mute."

The obelisk begins to glow a white-blue, causing the room to heat up, before a huff echoes through the room. I spin around quickly and as expected there's an agitated blue heron behind me.

"I suppose you finding me was inevitable. And here I was enjoying not listening to your idiotic thoughts all day." The bird's image begins to fade out as I get closer, still smirking.

"Whatever. You know you love me. Anyways, our souls are still connected. You couldn't hide from me if you wanted. And as much as I love not listening to you bitch all the time, I'm afraid you're gonna hafta come back. I feel like I'm unstable and the sound of chains has come back. Just leaving your energy wasn't enough..." I frown at this, honestly wishing she could go where she wants without having to retrieve her.

Bennu-sama nods and fades out more. "I see. Like I said, this was inevitable..." With that said, instead of fading out, she turns into a ball of light and flies into me.

I grimace as I get used to Bennu-sama invading my thoughts again while I leave the temple. I hop across the lake once more and navigate my way back to the building. Of course, this isn't the last time I plan to visit. While the boundless sands are nice, the lack of plants takes away from the illusion that it's my old home. This oasis will remedy that and provide a nice place to get away when I feel the need. With a smile, I pull my mask back up, but I don't enter. Instead, I sit on a cushioned bench near the entrance and just take in the beauty of things.
